Politics vs the Daleks

Who was the genius at TV3 who decided to time their first leader's debate tomorrow night to clash with Dr Who? Worse, a Dr Who episode with Daleks in it?

Bugger, bugger, bugger.

It's *not* a Doctor Who episode you want to miss.

I already knew that. I followed the series reviews over on What You Can Get Away With and decided that this was one I just had to see.

i've already set the VCR to prime. and have to go to the pub...

will probably try track down someone who has the video of the leaders debate.

I have seen the episode so guess I'll watch the debate.

Know what would be really cool - having a dalek as part of the leader's debate!

"Our policy is to exterminate, exterminate, exterminate."

"Thank you Mr Dalek. Mr Hide is this not another policy stolen off ACT" ... :-)

DPF: I was thinking that too. The maniacal screashing would fit right in...

Don't Panic (as that great DW writer Douglas Adams would say, may he RIP) the Dr is repeated on Sunday nights, so you can watch the debate tomorrow night and the good doctor on Sunday :-)

isn't Eccleston great? pity he's only on for one season.

did anyone else go to the Inside the Tardis thingy on in Welly and Auckers recently? i went to it at the Civic, very interesting.

drritchie said: While some of the new episodes of DW are good, "Dalek" is sadly not one of them. Don't feel bad if you miss it.

Noooo! 'Dalek' rocked!

Cheers,

Span:

1) Yes, Eccleston is wonderful and it's a shame the BBC made such a hash of his departure. (Whose bright idea was it to put out a crappy press release the day after the premiere they had to withdraw and apologise for . Not before Eccleston has been nuked on every SF/Who BB and discussion list in creation...) But I don't think David Tennett is a slouch in the acting department either, and it should be fun to see what Stephen Fry comes up with.

2) What did you think about the convention? Both Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker seemed rather charming when they did interviews on National Radio. I would have loved to go, but partner's 60th birthday party had to come first. Whovians are odd but rather sweet, as opposed to the hard core Trekkies who are just weird.

It doesn't matter if the episode stinks, its got Daleks in it!!!

DALEKS!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous : 8/11/2005 11:46:00 AM

It only *needs* one. Even if you don't like the way it ends, it has the best dalek scenes ever before that.

DPF: Or being asked on which party they would favour as a coalition partner:

Dalek: We obey no-one. We are superior beings.

Damn. My SciFi geekery is catching up with me.

so basically daleks are Libertarianz? ;-) (apologies to Mr The Red)
