Choosing words

Bill English has been forced to apologise for admitting that he wanted to sell Kiwibank and slash Working For Families, claiming that he didn't choose his words well. Of course he didn't - this was a private discussion with National Party supporters, so of course he told them things that he would never admit in public to the rest of us. Which is precisely why this leak is so interesting - it shows us the vast gap between what National is telling us, and what its telling its supporters and funders. Given the size of that gap, they have to be lying to someone. And if you think its the people who pay their bills, I have a bridge in Auckland I'd like to sell you...
